What Are the 11 Types of Facebook Ads?

Welcome to the fourth installment in our blog series, Guide to Facebook Advertising. This week, we’ll discuss the 11 types of Facebook ads available to suit your business advertising needs. Whether you’re looking to drive traffic to your website, reach local customers, or build brand awareness, Facebook offers unique ad campaigns that can help your business.

The 11 Types of Facebook Ads

Thе gеnеrаl ѕеtuр fоr еасh type of ad is ѕіmіlаr: Yоu’ll gо from сhооѕіng the type оf ad (or objective for the ad—what do you want people to do when they view your ads?), tо selecting your target аudіеnсе. After this, you’ll set your budget, then finally create and launch thе аd itself.

1. Brand Awareness Campaigns

A Brand Awareness campaign is a great option if you’re looking to get more page likes and followers for your page. When you build brand awareness, you stand a better chance to retain customers and draw in new ones.

2. Reach Campaigns

These campaigns are designed to reach as many people as possible in the area near your business. While you can target by location with all ads, this campaign is specifically designed to do so.

3. Traffic Campaigns

Traffic campaigns are great if you’re trying to send people to your website, landing page, blog post, etc. for a specific purpose. When you drive traffic to your website, you’ll increase your chance of capturing a customer by showing them what you do best.

4. Engagement Campaigns

Engagement campaigns are set up to boost your posts and get more page likes, shares, or offer claims. Boosting your posts simply helps to get your Facebook page posts and Instagram posts in front of people who you select through Facebook’s audience targeting.

5. App Install Campaigns

App install ad campaigns are designed to drive people to the store where they can download your business’s app.

6. Video View Campaigns

A video view campaign is an ad that contains a video of your business that is shown in the feeds of your target audience. Video is the best way to engage Facebook users.

7. Lead Generation Campaigns

Collect leads for your business with a lead generation campaign. Create ads that collect information from Facebook users who are interested in your product. This may include newsletter signup or a link to downloadable content.

8. Message Campaigns

Message campaigns allow you to connect with people on Messenger. This might sound creepy (and, being frank, it is pretty creepy when you think about it), but it can be extremely effective when it comes to results.

9. Conversion Campaigns

The only major difference between a conversion campaign and a traffic campaign is that conversions can be very specifically tracked through these ads. Meaning you can pick a specific action that you want someone to take (beyond going to your website) and track whether or not they actually took that action.

10. Catalog Sales Campaigns

This type of campaign is set up to automatically show items from your e-commerce store’s catalog to the audience you select when setting up your campaign. Seeing products and prices allows shoppers to make more informed choices and generate sales.

11. Store Visit Campaigns

These ads are designed to drive visits to a physical location. Store Visit campaigns generate instant awareness of the nearest business location and provide information the customer needs to get there.
